Assignment 18A


Assignment 18A – Create a Customer Avatar
My product is focused on delivering a unique individual experience to all clients.  My customer lives in Florida, a state with many musical connections and local activity, especially in areas like Miami.
He’s a 25-year-old recent college graduate with a comfortable entry level job at a software company who’d like to pick up music as a hobby.  He’s never played an instrument before and has no music equipment besides a laptop.  He wants to learn new skills and learn a hobby to have fun things to work on over the weekends.
He drives his red 2017 Honda Accord all around town, and likes listening to all types of music on the drive. 
When he gets home to his studio apartment, Seinfeld or Rick and Morty is playing on the TV.  He’s childless and independent, living a fun laid back lifestyle.  The Alchemist is sitting on his bookshelf, recently read through again, and the presential candidates and their stance on ‘the issues’ are nowhere close to being on his mind.
Upon encountering HomeStudio, this middle-class citizen would place a full comprehensive order for the 6-day package to take the first steps in learning music, taking control of his life and achieving his goals right from the comfort of his own home.

 



What do I have in common with him? I was also very excited to learn music production and how to create new songs entirely from scratch.  Learning music was a process that I was exited to be learning every step of the way, and is a great weekend hobby that provides a good sense of accomplishment for your efforts.

Coincidence? I think not. I came up with this idea because it’s something I’d use in my daily life, tailored around my available resources and possible scope of operations.  If I wouldn’t be a client in a venture, I wouldn’t be the businessman involved with it either.

  1. I too found that my perfect customer was almost identical to the perception that I have of myself. It’s funny how we want to cater to those who are most similar to us.

    I imagine that is an innate constraint that some entrepreneurs are bridled by, as seen from Pryor’s perspective.

    I’m glad your customer has Seinfeld on instead of that garbage show Friends. But I am a bit disheartened by the poor reading material that he furnishes his mind with. He should try reading Bill Bryson someday!

    P.S. Don’t forget to try to find ways to entice older demographics towards your service. They need hobbies too. :)
